Yes, we are in one of the most remote corners of the world: Greenland. Feel the soft crunch of snow beneath your shoes while running through the arctic desert and over the Greenland Ice Sheet as you immerse yourself in rare and exceptional natural beauty... what more could we ask for?

The Polar Circle Marathon - often referred to as "the coolest marathon on Earth" takes place in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland. The endless ice and arctic tundra of this vast country are the backdrop for this unusual race, in which runners race through the soundless arctic desert past glacier tongues and moraine landscapes. This is a rare opportunity to visit one of the most remote corners of the world while daring to take part in an extremely challenging running event.

A part of the route takes place on the ice cap itself, but the main part of the course is run on the gravel road (often snow covered) that connects the ice sheet with the small township of Kangerlussuaq, just north of the Polar Circle.

We, at Albatros Adventure Marathons, understand your concerns regarding COVID-19 and how this may affect your plans to participate in our marathon. The health and safety of our runners is our top priority and for this reason, we are monitoring the situation closely on a daily basis. We are aware of the seriousness of the situation and are following the WHO guidelines and travel restrictions imposed by numerous countries.  

We are still hopeful that the situation will improve and that we can move forward with our race. For the moment, we are therefore not able to make a final decision on the race being cancelled, such a decision will only be made at the earliest 4 weeks prior to the event, but no later than 2 weeks before the start of the tour package.  

Our booking terms will remain the same, but in the unfortunate case of a race being cancelled by us, we will issue a full refund.
